Weekend Update

Okay, so I haven't blogged in quite some time. Here are some highlights from the last month:

1. Gabrielle has recently fallen in love with music. She wants all of her toys to be playing songs at once and most age inappropriate she loves to do is listen to our iPods. She got her own mp3 player from Grandma Deb though so she no longer plays with the iPods but instead has her very own RCA Lyra. It only has 128 mb of onboard memory but there's a card slot wo we can always make it bigger as time goes by. Plus, how many 18 month old kids have their own mp3 player. She is way ahead of the curve. Check the Shutterfly site for pics.

2. We took both kids to the doctor this past week. They are in good health other than a little eczema and that is easily treated with a nightly dip in the Eucerin. They are both growing quickly and Gabrielle has grown right off the growth chart. She is currently 37" tall and weighs 23 pounds. She is well above the 100th %-ile for height and still hanging in around the 25th %-ile for weight. There will be no front row for her in the Christmas program. Colin is 27" long (just above the 95th %-ile) and weighs 17lbs 4 oz (about the 90th %-ile). If none of this percentile crap makes any sense to you this means Gabrielle is as tall as an average 3 year old and weighs as much as an average 14 month old and Colin is about the size of an average 6-7 month old.

3. Colin started eating rice cereal about 2 weeks ago. All was going well until we started feeding it to him twice a day. He's been a little bound up since then and hasn't pooped since Wednesday. Tomorrow will be day 5 but he had prunes for supper tonight so hopefully we'll have a poopie tomorrow. Never in my life did I think I would be monitoring another person's bowel movements until I had children.

4. Gabrielle has added a few new words to her vocabulary. More is a popular one along with apple, eyebrow, go, and Daddy's favorite...golf. She is going to be a golfer for Halloween and she got her very own putter this weekend at Target. She and Matt have been practicing downstairs on the portable putting green. So far she just acts as ball retriever. Matt hopes that some day she'll be able to go play golf with him.

5. Colin has figured out that sitting up is way better than laying down and now prefers to sit either in his walker or exersaucer. The bouncy chair has all but been forgotten except for eating time. I don't really know how much more weight the poor chair can handle though. When he sits in it, it nearly bottoms out.

6. Matt and I are just trying to control the chaos. It seems like the laundry is never totally done no matter how many loads we wash in one day and the dishwasher runs almost non-stop. We're both looking forward to a little break at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Hopefully I'll blog before then...

Fun new pictures

I thought I'd share a couple of my favorite pictures of the kids from the last few weeks. This is one of Gabrielle eating pizza. She LOVES pizza. She has had pizza many times but this was the first time that we taught her how to eat it with her hands. Up until now we've cut it up for her and fed it to her with a fork. This is way cute though...and yes she can eat a whole piece of pizza.

Am I going to hell?

Going to church has become more of an adventure as of late. Gabrielle would rather wander around the church than sit in one pew for an entire hour. We've discovered that Saturday evening church goes much better than Sunday morning and sometimes the mass is shorter on Saturday. Last night was not the case however. We forgot that last night was the kick off to "CathedralFest" (think Oktoberfest with at church). Gabrielle did awesome through the whole mass and ate a half box of raisins and small bag of Goldfish. Anyway, mass ended up lasting an hour and half and Gabrielle was getting antsy toward then end. So I grabbed my iPod out of my purse and stuck the headphones in her ears. Luckily I have a playlist of children's songs so she listened to tunes for the last 5 minutes or so of mass. I got a couple of strange looks, but those same people would have looked if she had been screaming. It's not like she pays attention in church anyway so I hope God will forgive us for this one.
