Christmas Lists

As requested by several family members, here are some Christmas gift ideas for the kids.

Any of the classic Disney DVDs--we don't have Cars, Jungle Book, Cinderella, Peter Pan, Lion King, The Fox and the Hound, Dumbo, Robin Hood, Mary Poppins, Alice in Wonderland, Tarzan, Aladdin, Pocahontas, Pete's Dragon, Beauty and the Beast, and so on...these are just some of my favorites

Books are always a good bet. Gabrielle is pretty nice to her books and can do regular paper pages but Colin is a little aggressive. Anything that has the potential to be ripped of will be--board books are still good for him.

As far as clothes Gabrielle is wearing mostly 3T and 4T for pajamas and size 9 shoes. Colin is wearing 24 month or 2T clothes and size 8 shoes.

They already have TONS of toys but it you really want to give them toys you can. Try to avoid anything made in China...if that's possible.

Update: I thought of something else that the kids could use. They are moving around in the bathtub more and more and need one of those things to put over the bath spout that keeps them from hurting themselves if they bump into it...I don't know its real name so I'm forced to describe. Their bathroom is rubber ducky theme so maybe a rubber ducky spout cover?

Back from the dead

So you may have thought that my blog had died...the term used for blogs whose author's have stopped writing. My blog was just hibernating. I haven't been writing because I've been super busy knitting. I'm going to try to make 4 or 5 Christmas gifts and I'm about 2/3 of the way through the first one. So updates may be sort of sporadic until December or so.

We've had a pretty crazy month. Both kids were sick the whole first week of October with a virus of some kind. They were pretty lethargic and maintained a 100-101 degree fever for a whole week before they finally got better. Special thanks to Grammie Deb and Grandma Jean for coming to take care of sick kids so I could go to work--Matt was out on tour. I don't know what I would have done if the moms weren't close enough to come help. We've all been healthy since then so hopefully we just got our whole dose of sick all at one time and we'll stay healthy for a while now.

Last weekend we went to Brookings to see Auntie Whitney in her final marching band performance of the year. The kids had a fun time playing in the yard and watching the marching band perform. Gabrielle absolutely lost it when the band played The Star-Spangled Banner--her new favorite song. We stuck around for a little bit of the football game and the kids had their first stadium dogs (monster hot dogs).

This past weekend we celebrated Halloween with a little party at our house. There are so many young kids in the band family that we decided to have a little get together and avoid all the "big kids" at other community events. There were 9 kids between 1.5 and 4 years old here. They colored, played with the toys, and decorated cookies. Several of the cookies ended up with about 3 times as much frosting as necessary but the sprinkles stick better that way. We took a couple of pictures of the whole group but getting G and C to take a picture after everyone left didn't work too well. Maybe we'll try again on Wednesday--we'll see.
