Christmas List for G & C

I've had multiple requests for this info and I figured this was the easiest way to get it out to everyone at once. Just some ideas...

Gabrielle:
MagnaDoodle
Duplo Blocks (Big Legos)--purchased
Easy puzzles...as in one piece fits in one hole
Cardboard books
Clothes size 2T

Colin:
Amazing Animals Sing & Go Choo Choo--purchased
Other Amazing Animals Add-ons
Cars and trucks
Cardboard books
Clothes size 12-18 months...no this is not a typo

And then there were two

Colin has two teeth now and they're coming in fast. Friday I could barely feel the one and now it's easy to see both of them and they're already turning white--they start out sort of clear in case you didn't know. He hasn't bitten me yet when he's eating so that's good. He did chomp down on my finger today when I was feeling them though. He's really turning into a big boy.

Who's the hot chic?

That's my sister all right! This is just the latest shot the SDSU paparazzi have snapped of my baby sis. I think she's been in every possible publication put out by the university. This time it's the Student Profiles section of their Admissions website. It's very cool and I'm super proud of her. Plus she told me last week that she's the newly elected president of the Society of Women Engineers. Woo hoo Whit!

All he wants for Christmas is his two front teeth

Colin has developed a drooling problem in the last month and in the last week it has gotten out of control. In addition, anything that he can get his hands on lately goes straight into his mouth. Both of these symptoms are obvious signs of teething so I wasn't surprised when I felt the tiny little corner of a tooth that had broken through on his bottom jaw. I guess maybe I was a little surprised since Gabrielle didn't get her first tooth until she was almost 8 months old--I had to look back to when I blogged about her first tooth and noticed that I used a very similar title...I guess I'm not so creative with the titles. Anyway...he's got one tooth, though barely visable, and probably another one on the way since his gums are really swollen. I'm sure he'll have both bottom teeth by Christmas at least. Let's hope he doesn't start biting me when he's eating...

Let's roll--

--over. that is. Colin rolled over from his back to front yesterday for the first time. He took a little longer than Gabrielle did learning this skill but he's a little more pudgy than she was. I put some new pictures on the kids' Shutterfly site that show his progress. Enjoy!

It's official...she's a Karpen

When I was little, actually until I was in HS, we had a great big mirror on one wall of our livingroom. I can't remember how big it was exactly but it pretty much covered the whole wall above the couch. Anyway...my sisters and I would frequently look at ourselves in this mirror, dance in front of the mirror, steam up the mirror with our breath, etc. We used to get in trouble for looking in the mirror when we were crying or getting in trouble for something else--Roxie was always getting in trouble for crying in the mirror.

Anyway, today Gabrielle was walking around the house and wandered into my our bedroom. She's been there many times before but today finally realized that we have mirrored closet doors. She stood staring at herself in the mirror for at least 5 minutes making faces and talking to herself. Then when I asked her what she was doing she laughed and pointed at her reflection as if to say, "Just talking to Gabrielle." It gave me flashbacks to my childhood and the big mirror in the livingroom.

Happy Halloween

Check the Shutterfly site to see pictures of the kids from yesterday. We didn't go out trick or treating because Matt had to work and it was really cold. Plus Matt and I would just end up eating all of the candy and we don't really need that. Maybe we can go next year. Next holiday please...
